The so called Captains of Indian Industry, the elite club, have apparently forgotten this in their earnest bid for enhancing their image as some of the richest men in the world. They together with the politicians foolishly claim that India will be a fully developed nation in quarter of a century.

It is unlikely that the wise men do not see reality. It however does not serve their long term interests in distancing themselves from the politically correct approach of suggesting India is the next economic super power. You need to travel just a few miles outside the urban growth areas, and sometimes not even that, to realize that there is no development in the real sense. City after city is reeling under the lack of water and electricity and the wise men only speak of the economy booming. There is a disaster waiting to happen and how come no one sees it.

Population growth and migration from the rural to the urban areas continues unabated. There is far too much that needs to be done, but the population growth and unplanned urbanization is more than neutralizing any levels of growth. The only short term solution is for moving industry and education centres to rural areas to enable a reversal of migration and create centers of excellence outside the known urban centers.
